mTagBFP2 is a bright blue fluorescent protein derived from the sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor. As a genetically encoded fluorescent protein with excitation and emission in the blue spectral range, mTagBFP2 is widely used as a fluorescent reporter, fusion tag, and labeling tool in cell biology, molecular biology, and fluorescence imaging. Its spectral properties also make it useful for multiplex fluorescence experiments in combination with fluorescent proteins emitting at longer wavelengths.

mTagBFP2 can be genetically fused to proteins of interest to enable visualization of protein expression, subcellular localization, and cellular dynamics. It can also serve as a reporter for monitoring gene expression and transfection efficiency, making it a useful tool for studies involving protein trafficking, signaling pathways, and cell-based assays.
